Job Summary
Beacon Medical Center of Lakeland is seeking a professional, organized, and patient-focused Medical Front Desk Receptionist to join our primary care team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a medical office and using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Complete patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and cancel appointments.
- Answer incoming calls and route messages appropriately.
- Enter and update patient demographics, insurance information, and required documentation in the EMR system.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments.
- Collect copayments, deductibles, and outstanding patient balances.
- Provide patients with required forms and ensure they are completed accurately.
- Scan and upload identification, insurance cards, referrals, and other documents into the patient record.
- Obtain necessary referrals and authorizations when applicable.
- Communicate with clinical staff regarding patient arrivals, scheduling concerns, and urgent messages.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Keep the reception and waiting areas organized and professional.
- Assist with medical records requests, incoming faxes, and general administrative duties.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous front-desk, receptionist, or administrative experience in a medical office.
- Experience using an electronic medical record system.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance processes.
- Strong computer, data-entry, and telephone skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain organized in a busy medical environment.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with eClinicalWorks or a similar EMR system.
- Experience verifying insurance eligibility and collecting patient payments.
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.

- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
