Part-Time Family Nurse Practitioner (APRN)
Pediatric Experience Required
Beacon Medical Center of Lakeland is seeking a compassionate and experienced part-time Family Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality primary care services to pediatric and adult patients in an outpatient medical office.
The ideal candidate will have strong pediatric clinical experience, excellent assessment and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, patients, and families. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical histories, physical examinations, vital-sign assessment, and age-appropriate developmental screenings.
- Diagnose and manage common acute and chronic health conditions in pediatric and adult patients.
- Develop individualized treatment plans consistent with current clinical guidelines and the practitioner’s education, training, credentials, and authorized scope of practice.
- Prescribe medications and order diagnostic testing in accordance with Florida law, established practice protocols, and Beacon Medical Center policies.
- Provide preventive care, routine health screenings, immunization counseling, and patient and family education.
- Administer or order approved medications, vaccines, and injections when clinically appropriate.
- Perform approved outpatient procedures for which the practitioner has been trained and credentialed.
- Interpret laboratory and diagnostic test results and communicate findings and treatment recommendations to patients or their authorized representatives.
- Identify conditions requiring physician consultation, emergency intervention, or referral to a specialist or higher level of care.
- Document patient encounters accurately and promptly in eClinicalWorks.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection-control standards, clinical policies, and applicable federal and Florida requirements.
- Participate in care coordination, quality-improvement activities, and clinical team meetings as needed.
- Provide respectful, culturally sensitive care to patients from diverse backgrounds.
Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Florida Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license.
- Current national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Pediatric clinical experience in a primary care, pediatric, family medicine, or comparable outpatient setting.
- Graduate degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- Ability to successfully complete all required background screenings, credentialing, and employment verifications.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently within the authorized scope of practice and collaboratively with the medical director and clinical team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using eClinicalWorks or a comparable electronic health record system.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding principles.
- Experience with pediatric preventive care, developmental assessments, immunizations, and management of common childhood illnesses.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
- Experience providing care through telehealth platforms.
