Overview
Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Washington, DC in their search for a Senior Staff Accountant to join their team. This fully onsite role is responsible for supporting advanced accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and playing a key role in the month-end close process. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Lead key aspects of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Perform complex account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal reporting.
- Analyze financial data and support variance analysis and forecasting efforts.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
- Support audit processes by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests.
- Mentor junior accounting staff and assist with process improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support accounting operations and reporting needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
