Job Overview

A premier intellectual property law firm is seeking a talented Trademark Associate Attorney to join its expanding Trademark and Copyright practice in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will advise clients on domestic and international trademark matters, including trademark counseling, clearance, prosecution, enforcement, licensing, copyright issues, domain name disputes, and strategic brand protection.

Duties

• Advise clients regarding U.S. and international trademark counseling, clearance, prosecution, and portfolio management.

• Conduct trademark clearance reviews and prepare strategic legal recommendations.

• Draft and respond to United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Office Actions.

• Prepare cease and desist letters and develop trademark enforcement strategies.

• Manage trademark disputes involving domain names, UDRP proceedings, and TTAB actions.

• Advise clients on copyright protection, enforcement, and related intellectual property matters.

• Assist with trademark litigation support and brand protection initiatives.

• Counsel clients regarding trademarks used across digital platforms and social media.

• Draft and negotiate trademark licenses, coexistence agreements, and intellectual property agreements.

• Collaborate with attorneys across multiple intellectual property disciplines on sophisticated client matters.

• Maintain strong client relationships through practical, business-oriented legal advice.

• Stay informed regarding developments in trademark, copyright, advertising, and digital media law.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of trademark counseling and prosecution experience.

• Experience handling copyright law matters.

• Active membership in a state bar and compliance with applicable CLE requirements.

• Experience with USPTO procedures, TTAB proceedings, trademark clearance, and prosecution.

• Strong analytical, research, and legal writing abilities.

• Excellent academic credentials.

• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple sophisticated intellectual property matters simultaneously.
