Job Overview
A law firm seeks an Associate in the Tax Department specializing in Executive Compensation, Employment, and Benefits to join its Chicago, IL office. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of two years of relevant experience to support a global practice advising clients on complex compensation, benefits, and employment matters across various industries and jurisdictions.
Duties
- Advise clients on a full spectrum of corporate transactions, including multi-billion dollar mergers, acquisitions, and capital markets deals.
- Tailor compensation arrangements and address complex multi-jurisdictional employment and employee benefits issues.
- Optimize plan design to account for tax and securities law considerations while ensuring commercial practicality.
- Collaborate with cross-office colleagues to provide insights on tax, securities, labor, and corporate governance matters.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of experience in benefits and compensation law.
- Demonstrated ability to handle challenging compensation, employee benefits, and employment issues.
- Experience working with diverse clients, including financial institutions, private equity firms, and emerging growth companies.
Education
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
Skills
- Sophisticated understanding of the legal landscape, market practice, and conditions in executive compensation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on commercial and practical solutions.
