About Us: Banning Lewis Prep Academy, serving grades 6-12, is one of two campuses (Banning Lewis Ranch Academy-K-5 is the other) is a tuition-free public charter school authorized by District 49, proudly serving the Banning Lewis Ranch community and surrounding neighborhoods in northeastern Colorado Springs. Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is required with an associate degree or higher in a related field is preferred.
Ability to work effectively with adolescents and staff in a school setting.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to remain calm, respectful, and professional in challenging situations.
Ability to stand, walk, and actively supervise students for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a school or youth-focused environment.
Knowledge of or experience with PBIS, Capturing Kids' Hearts, and/or restorative practices.
Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) certified (or willing to obtain).
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Bilingual Skills (preferred But Not Required).

Position Overview
The Student Supervision Specialist plays a critical role in fostering a safe, structured, and relationship-centered learning environment at Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy. This position supports students during non-instructional times while reinforcing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) principles, and restorative practices. The Specialist serves as a consistent and positive adult presence who helps build strong relationships, promotes accountability, and contributes to a culture where students feel safe, respected, and supported.
Key Responsibilities
Student Supervision & Safety
Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, transitions, lunch, recess, passing periods, study halls, and other non-instructional times.
Monitor hallways, common areas, cafeteria, and school grounds to ensure student safety and adherence to school expectations.
Assist with emergency procedures, drills, and school safety protocols.
Maintain active supervision and situational awareness at all times.
PBIS Implementation & Behavior Support
Consistently reinforce PBIS expectations by recognizing positive student behavior and addressing misbehavior using proactive and preventative strategies.
Support tiered behavior interventions as directed by administration.
Use clear, consistent language aligned with schoolwide expectations when redirecting students.
Collect and communicate behavior observations and trends to support data-informed decision-making.
Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) & Relationship Building
Build meaningful, respectful relationships with students by modeling CKH principles such as greeting students by name, active listening, and positive affirmations.
Support classroom and school culture grounded in trust, respect, and emotional safety.
Use relationship-first strategies to de-escalate conflicts and support student engagement.
Serve as a positive role model who exemplifies empathy, consistency, and integrity.
Restorative Practices
Utilize restorative conversations and problem-solving strategies to address student behavior and conflict.
Support restorative responses that focus on accountability, repairing harm, and rebuilding relationships.
Assist with facilitating restorative circles or conferences when appropriate and as trained.
Collaborate with staff to support reintegration of students following disciplinary incidents.
Communication & Collaboration
Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff regarding student needs and concerns.
Accurately document incidents, interventions, and observations in accordance with school procedures.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Operational & School Support
Assist with school-wide events, assemblies, testing days, before & after school supervision, and special activities.
Support classroom teachers and administrators by escorting students or providing temporary supervision when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support school operations and student success.
