What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech and Language Pathologist position at Azusa Unified?
The Speech Teacher is credentialed special education teacher who serves in an itinerant role of providing speech therapy services to students pre-school through twelfth grade.
The Speech teacher has responsbility for individuals with speech therapy needs. Specifically:
1. Provides information and assistance to individuals with speech therapy needs and to their parents.
2. Assesses students referred to special education as a member of the assessment team.
3. Manages a caseload of students at different school sites and works toward the accomplishment of long and short term goals as stated on the student's Individualized Educational Program.
4. Provides consultation, and material regarding individuals with speech therapy needs to their parents and to regular staff members.
5. Monitors student progress on a regular basis and participates in the review and revision of individual education programs as appropriate.
