Duties
- Safely operate tow trucks, including flatbed and traditional tow trucks, to recover disabled or damaged vehicles from accident scenes, parking lots, or roadside locations
- Load and unload vehicles using appropriate equipment such as winches, hooks, and straps while adhering to safety protocols
- Conduct basic automotive diagnostics and mechanical assessments to determine the best recovery method or identify potential issues before transport
- Communicate effectively with customers, dispatchers, and emergency responders to coordinate vehicle recovery operations
- Maintain detailed logs of all towing activities, including vehicle condition reports and service documentation
- Assist with automotive repairs or mechanical troubleshooting when necessary, leveraging mechanic experience and automotive knowledge
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards during vehicle handling and transport
Requirements
- Proven experience operating tow trucks, especially flatbed or wheel-lift models; mechanic experience is highly valued
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic automotive diagnostics and repairs
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with clean driving record; experience driving manual transmissions preferred
- Knowledge of automotive repair procedures and familiarity with automotive systems such as brakes, engines, and transmissions
- Ability to load & unload vehicles efficiently while managing safety risks effectively
- Skilled in conflict management to handle challenging customer interactions professionally
- Experience operating forklifts or other heavy machinery is a plus but not mandatory
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude in high-pressure situations
