What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Fork Truck Operator position at International Paper and Careers?
- Loads and unloads trucks.
- Positions forks, lifting platform , or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials.
- Reprint load tags / Stretch wraps products.
- Locating and moving stock of products onto or off pallets, skids, or lifting device for storage or shipment.
- Continuously moving levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
- Inventories materials on work floor, and supply workers with materials as needed.
- Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
- Lubricates fork truck, recharges batteries, fills fuel tank, or replaces liquefied gas tank
- Ensures all shipping/warehouse paperwork ticket numbers are recorded accurately.
- Completes pre-inspections and fill out forms.
- Inspects bales and identifying damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies.
- Receiving forklift drivers sign delivery receipts when truck is unloaded.
- Help maintain a safe and orderly environment
- Other duties as directed
The Skills You Will Bring: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have demonstrated the ability to perform normal duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: Skilled & certified to drive forklift. OSHA requires forklift operators to get certified to prevent unsafe driving and injuries. By ensuring their operators are certified, employers can benefit from safer workplace and more productivity, organizational skills, ability to read a tape measure, at least two (2) years previous forklift experience. Possess basic computer skills and proficient user of our ERP system. Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Employee must be able to occasionally lift/carry 1-20 pounds and lifting 21-50 less often from the ground to waist height. This job requires some reaching, kneeling, squatting, and climbing stairs. Hand/wrist work including power grasping, pushing and pulling materials, walking and standing and sitting while driving. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employee must wear protective glasses, safety steel toed shoes, safety bump caps and use hearing protection as required. Most of the work is road driving but with occasional work outside. The plant and warehouse can be chilly in the winter (above freezing) and is hot in the summer (non air conditioned). The plant is generally clean of debris and clutter, but the manufacturing process generates a fair amount of corrugated dust. Position may require overtime including possible weekends.
Salary : $17 - $19
