Cost Accountant

Job Description:

Auriga Polymers Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Indorama Ventures PLC, is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our group located at our Spartanburg, SC facility. We are looking for a highly motivated professional with demonstrated capabilities. Objective:

The Accountant/Cost Accountant will play a key role in managing financial reporting, fixed asset accounting, capital projects, internal orders, and month-end close activities for a large chemical manufacturing company. This position requires a strong understanding of manufacturing accounting, financial analysis, and month-end closing processes. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial records, proper capitalization, reclassification, assist in budgeting and forecasting, and support audits while working closely with cross-functional teams. This position reports directly to the Plant Controller and collaborates closely with the CFO.

Responsibilities / Job Requirements:

• Oversee the general ledger and promote accurate/timely financial reporting alongside the Controller
• Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. Support the Controller with limited treasury activities.
• Capex reporting of actual expenditures for forecasting purposes and provide capex for assets under construction (AUC).
• Manage lease accounting under IFRS/US GAAP, including ROU asset depreciation and lease liability amortization.
• Reconcile lease clearing accounts by reclassifying lease expenses
• Review and validate general ledger entries for lease additions and modifications
• Managed capital projects and work orders, including asset capitalization, settlement, and project close-out.
• Review and post month end depreciation.
• Prepared and maintained CapEx reporting, capitalized R&D labor costs, and supported capital expenditure estimates for SSM and FOH.
• Prepare and review accruals (AP) and support the month-end close, including AP module confirmation and GR/IR reconciliation.
• Prepared estimates for SSM, FOH, depreciation, and capital expenditures.
• Performed general ledger reviews, reclassifications, and vouching for SSM and FOH accounts to ensure accuracy and proper classification.
• Prepare and file 1099 reporting, respond to audit requests, and ensure compliance with company accounting policies and GAAP.
• Reviewed general ledger detail reports and communicated findings and corrections to management.
• Work alongside the Controller and cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes; support the Controller with ad hoc projects and collaborate with shared services.
• Collaborate with the Controller to identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting operations and strengthen internal controls.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical industry environment.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and financial analysis.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving mindset, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
