What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Hardware Engineer - SolidWorks & Electronic position at Aureate Technologies Inc?
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Hardware Engineer to support the design and development of locomotive control system hardware and electronic enclosure solutions for the LOCOTROL® product portfolio.
This role is ideal for Mechanical Engineers with experience in electronic enclosure design, sheet metal, injection molded plastics, and SolidWorks-based product development.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Design and develop mechanical hardware solutions for locomotive control systems
✅ Create electronic enclosure and assembly designs using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD tools
✅ Support product design, development, manufacturability, and lifecycle maintenance activities
✅ Develop hardware requirements using DFX methodologies
✅ Support root cause investigations, field failures, and corrective actions
✅ Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering drawings in PLM systems
✅ Support hardware deployment from concept through manufacturing implementation
✅ Collaborate with Program Managers, Project Engineers, and cross-functional teams
✅ Participate in qualification testing activities including thermal, vibration, and EMI/EMC testing
Required Qualifications:
✔ Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology
✔ 5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience
✔ 3 years of 3D CAD/CAE modeling experience (SolidWorks preferred)
✔ 2 years of electronic enclosure and assembly design experience
✔ Experience with sheet metal and injection molded plastic design
✔ Experience generating mechanical specifications and requirements documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
➕ Experience with Agile PLM or other configuration management systems
➕ Environmental qualification testing experience (thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC)
➕ Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge and DMM usage
➕ Railroad or locomotive systems experience
➕ Experience with hardware lifecycle support and manufacturing integration
