Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up, program, and operate CNC lathes and mills to produce precision parts according to blueprint specifications. This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Machining & Operations
Set up, adjust, and operate CNC lathes and mills for complex machining operations
Run multiple machines simultaneously to maximize efficiency
Produce precision parts in accordance with blueprints, work instructions, and specifications
Perform complex setups including multi-station workholding and custom fixtures
Modify and adapt tooling as needed to achieve desired results
Programming & Process Development
Create, edit, and prove out CNC programs using IGF or similar software
Develop and define machining processes with limited documentation
Troubleshoot machining issues and implement effective solutions
Collaborate with engineering to resolve design or process challenges
Quality & Inspection
Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, comparators, surface plates)
Utilize CMM equipment when required
Ensure compliance with tight tolerances and quality standards
Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) as required
Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines
Maintain equipment cleanliness, calibration, and operational reliability
Contribute to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce costs
Team Support
Train and mentor junior machinists
Support workload prioritization based on production needs
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
Follow all safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
5 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience setting up and operating multiple CNC machine types (minimum 5 preferred)
Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Preferred
Experience with IGF or similar CNC programming software
Knowledge of advanced shop math (including trigonometry)
Experience with CMM equipment
Background in lean manufacturing / continuous improvement
Prior mentoring or training experience
