What are the responsibilities and job description for the Merchandise Management Internship position at Augusta GreenJackets?
We are seeking a full-time Merchandise Management Intern to join our team. To qualify for this program, you must be a recent college graduate (May 2025 or December 2025). We are also able to consider candidates currently enrolled in a related program who will graduate in Spring 2026; however, you must be onsite by February/March of 2026.
This is an educational internship. Throughout the program, you will receive hands-on training in managing a sports-industry retail operation and performing many of the responsibilities typically assigned to a Merchandise Manager in a professional sports venue.
You will receive training and experience in the following areas:
- Ordering merchandise and managing product needs
- Performing administrative duties, including hiring, scheduling, and managing staff timecards
- Partnering with the Marketing Team to support online retail initiatives
- Working all home games and events and ensuring exceptional customer service
- Learning and applying leadership skills related to staff management and day-to-day retail operations
- Training on POS systems (sales, returns, exchanges), online shop platforms, shipping processes, and inventory maintenance
- Using our inventory software, processing purchase orders, entering invoices, and receiving product
- Assisting with marketing efforts in partnership with management
- Gaining a full understanding of the stockroom, product assortment, and preparing reports for accounting
- Greeting, assisting, and cashing out customers during both game days and non-game days
- Performing additional retail department duties as assigned following proper training
Qualifications:
- Graduated May/December 2025 with a degree in sports management, marketing, communications, event management, or a related field. Should you be graduating in May of 2026, this role requires you are on site by February 2026.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with graphic design preferred (Adobe Photoshop, Canva or similar).
- A positive attitude with the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays during the season.
- Comfortable interacting with the public and being part of a high-energy entertainment environment.
The GreenJackets will pay 100% for your housing in this role, we have special intern housing for you and other interns, and we cover all your expenses. Further, we provide you with a monthly stipend of $700 for your other expenses.
