What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Recruitment Consultant position at Atlas NextWave?
About Atlas NextWave
Atlas NextWave is a global energy and marine staffing partner connecting specialized talent with the operators, contractors, and service companies that power the offshore, drilling, and maritime sectors. We place the people who keep rigs turning and vessels moving, and we do it with the technical fluency our clients expect. As we grow our North America team, we are looking for a senior recruiter who lives and breathes the offshore drilling world.
The Role
This is a senior, desk-owning recruiter role for someone who already knows marine and offshore drilling talent cold. You will source, screen, and place experienced professionals across rig crews, drilling operations, and the maritime roles that support them. You understand the difference between a drillship, a semisub, and a jack-up, you know what an STCW ticket and a USCG MMC mean, and you can hold a credible conversation with a toolpusher, a DP operator, and a drilling superintendent in the same afternoon.
You will own your pipeline end to end and carry a real req load, working closely with account management to deliver qualified candidates fast and keep clients confident.
What You Will Do
- Own full-cycle recruitment for marine and offshore drilling roles, from intake through offer and onboarding.
- Build and maintain deep talent pipelines across drilling contractors, OSV operators, and offshore service companies.
- Source actively through your own network, headhunting, referrals, and targeted outreach rather than waiting on inbound applications.
- Screen for both technical fit and certification compliance, including maritime credentials (STCW, USCG MMC), drilling competencies, and offshore survival and medical requirements.
- Partner with account managers to scope roles accurately and set realistic delivery timelines with clients.
- Manage candidate experience and communication so people stay engaged through long offshore mobilization cycles.
- Track activity, pipeline health, and time-to-fill, and report clearly on your desk.
- Operate within VMS and MSP environments where required, maintaining clean and compliant submittals.
What You Bring
- 5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with a strong track record placing marine, offshore, or drilling talent specifically.
- Working knowledge of offshore drilling operations and vessel types, including MODUs (drillships, semisubmersibles, jack-ups) and offshore support vessels.
- Familiarity with the maritime and offshore credentialing landscape (STCW, USCG MMC, BOSIET/HUET, OGUK or equivalent medicals).
- Demonstrated ability to headhunt and build pipelines in a niche, candidate-short market.
- Confidence carrying a req load and producing against targets in an agency or third-party staffing model.
- Strong communication skills and the credibility to talk shop with technical hiring managers and offshore professionals alike.
Nice to Have
- Existing network within Gulf of Mexico or international offshore drilling markets.
- Experience recruiting within VMS/MSP ecosystems.
- Background working with Jones Act vessels and U.S.-flag crewing requirements.
- Exposure to offshore wind, subsea, or survey crewing as the energy mix evolves.
What Success Looks Like
In your first 90 days you will have absorbed our active reqs, mapped the key talent pools for your desk, and started delivering qualified, certification-ready candidates that move quickly through client processes. Within six months you are a trusted name to both your candidates and your accounts, with a pipeline deep enough that you are placing ahead of demand rather than chasing it.
Why Atlas NextWave
You get a specialized desk in a market you already know, the backing of a global staffing platform, and a team that understands the work rather than treating offshore like any other vertical. If you are tired of generalist recruiting and want to go deep in a sector where your expertise is the differentiator, this is the seat.
If you’re looking to build your recruitment career within an ambitious and international business, we’d love to hear from you.
