The Controller will develop and maintain cost models, support month-end close and forecasting activities, and provide financial insights to leadership while ensuring alignment with internal controls and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Identify and support cost savings initiatives aimed at reducing material and labor inefficiencies through cost accounting methodologies
- Analyze production costs and recommend actions to improve operational efficiency and reduce expenses
- Develop and maintain cost models to determine actual product costs using bill of materials, production data, and pricing inputs
- Prepare cost estimates for new or custom products to support pricing decisions and forecasting
- Compile and analyze manufacturing cost data for payroll allocation, inventory tracking, and variance analysis
- Calculate burden rates and assist in establishing departmental budgets
- Support development and maintenance of systems used to track and allocate product and service costs
- Ensure accurate cost allocation across functions to support reporting and decision-making
- Classify costs across labor, materials, and overhead categories for analysis and reporting
- Support compliance with internal policies, procedures, and operational standards
- Participate in the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Partner with plant leadership to provide financial analysis and insights for decision-making
- Assist with new business quoting activities, including cost analysis and pricing support
- Support compensation-related calculations such as incentives and bonus programs
- Collaborate with finance leadership on reporting, forecasting, and planning activities
- Ensure account reconciliations are completed accurately and support financial statement preparation
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and cost accounting practices
- Experience with cost modeling, variance analysis, and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and leadership teams
- Experience developing cost models based on production and material inputs
- Background in budgeting, forecasting, and operational financial support
- Familiarity with operational or quality compliance frameworks
- Experience supporting plant leadership with financial insights and analysis
- Ability to drive process improvements and manage multiple priorities
