Job Title: Buyer Planner
This role is focused more on the purchasing aspect than planning, involving forecasting for periods ranging from 3 to 90 days, and extending up to 2-3 years in preparation for product launches in the US and Japan. The position involves close collaboration with the sourcing department to communicate forecasting and demand schedules, ensuring suppliers have necessary parts available.
Responsibilities
The work environment is 100% on-site at a class 3 medical device manufacturer in Irvine. The company is rapidly growing, with new production lines being added regularly. The manufacturing site includes clean rooms and a production floor, requiring the occasional wearing of clean room attire. Work hours are from 7 am to 4 pm, with occasional overtime and Saturday work. The team environment is fast-paced, flexible, and relatively laid back, with a casual dress code of jeans and t-shirts.

Responsibilities
- Utilize ERP systems and Excel to strategically manage inventory and create planning schedules.
- Lead procurement activities, ensuring compliance with internal controls, budgetary constraints, and purchasing policies.
- Develop purchasing plans to support production schedules and minimize disruptions.
- Monitor supplier performance and initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product introductions and material substitutions.
- Resolve invoice and receiving discrepancies with Accounting and Receiving teams.
- Support supplier onboarding and qualification processes.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and regulatory requirements.
- Handle some indirect purchasing related to ongoing construction projects.
- Work with both standard and custom products for new product introductions and R&D clinical trials.
- 4 years of experience in purchasing and planning, preferably in the medical device sector.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, with experience in JDE, Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, vlookups, and the ability to create custom planning schedules.
- Experience with purchasing smaller components and managing 100 line item purchase orders.
- Ability to forecast 90 days to 2-3 years out, and comfort with working in a clean room environment.
- Experience in the medical device industry, particularly with class 3 devices, is preferred.
- Candidates from aerospace with experience in smaller components and multi-level BOMs are also considered.
- Familiarity with ERP implementation processes.
