Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Palmdale, CA. This role is responsible for leading and implementing project-specific safety programs on commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong field experience, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and compliant job site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and execution of site-specific Safety & Health programs on active construction projects
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal OSHA regulations
- Partner with project management to promote a culture focused on zero safety incidents
- Conduct regular safety audits, assessments, and performance reviews to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory standards
- Manage and resolve safety issues that may result in work stoppages due to imminent danger
- Collaborate with project teams to develop preventative measures and improve safety practices
- Provide guidance to site personnel and subcontractors on safety requirements and best practices
- Perform site walk-throughs, document findings, and ensure timely corrective actions
- Lead safety meetings and training sessions relevant to ongoing work activities
- Review incident reports, including near misses and accidents, and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready safety documentation and reporting
- Coordinate closely with client safety teams to ensure alignment and compliance
- Travel between project sites as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with 7 years of relevant experience; OR
- Associate degree with 9 years of relevant experience; OR
- High School Diploma/GED with 11 years of relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of OSHA construction and general industry standards
- Familiarity with ANSI, NIOSH, USACE EM 385-1, and NEC standards
- Experience in commercial building construction environments required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work flexible schedules based on project needs
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements
Certifications
- OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Construction Outreach Training (required)
