Senior Electrical Engineer
Location: Conshohocken, PA (Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week)
Position Type: Contract-to-Hire
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our client's growing energy team in a leading technical and strategic role. This position offers the opportunity to mentor and manage junior and mid-level engineers while partnering directly with clients to deliver innovative and sustainable energy solutions.
The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding energy transition initiatives, contributing to strategy development, business growth, and client engagement while supporting projects from early concept through full execution.
This role provides true end-to-end project lifecycle exposure, including exploration, development, operation, modernization, and repowering/retirement of energy assets.
Key Responsibilities- Lead electrical engineering teams delivering advisory services and engineering design solutions across energy-sector projects.
- Engage directly with clients to evaluate energy needs and develop concept-level solutions.
- Advance projects through detailed engineering design and execution phases.
- Mentor and support junior and mid-level electrical engineering staff.
- Collaborate with account managers and business development teams on strategic pursuits.
- Develop engineering strategies supporting energy transition and decarbonization initiatives.
- Prepare and review design calculations, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
- Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Support proposal development, business development, and client relationship management.
- Anticipate project challenges and proactively manage technical and delivery risks.
- Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of electrical engineering design or consulting experience.
- Strong understanding of electrical power systems and engineering fundamentals.
- Experience with:
- Power distribution systems and microgrids
- Power generation systems
- Medium- and High-Voltage substations
- Renewable energy projects (wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, etc.)
- Energy storage systems
- Protection & Control, SCADA, or power system automation
- Thermal utility plants and distribution systems (steam, hot water, chilled water)
- Cogeneration or combined heat and power systems
- Campus utility master planning or decarbonization initiatives
- Experience developing engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision after project direction is established.
- Experience using 3D modeling/design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, CADWorx, or NavisWorks.
- Power system modeling experience using SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or similar platforms.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year.
- Experience in Owner's Engineer, technical advisory, due diligence, or contract management roles.
- Project management and design management experience within consulting environments.
