Position Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Location: Westover, WV
Reports To: Culinary Director
Position Summary
The Dining Service Coordinator / Cook plays an essential role in supporting the overall health and recovery of our clients. This position is responsible for preparing and serving meals in alignment with dietary guidelines, maintaining kitchen sanitation standards, and fostering a respectful, welcoming dining environment within a licensed behavioral health facility.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to approved menus and dietary requirements
- Coordinate with the Dietitian to plan menus and order food based on census and client needs
- Monitor and document food, refrigerator, freezer, and water temperatures daily
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, including dishes, surfaces, floors, and storage areas
- Ensure compliance with West Virginia food safety regulations and internal policies
- Assist with meal service and create a supportive dining atmosphere for clients
- Report observed changes in client behavior or physical condition to the clinical team
- Perform additional food service or light housekeeping duties as assigned
What You Bring
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with compassion for individuals in recovery
- Ability to read and follow recipes, menus, and safety protocols
Required:
- West Virginia Food Handler’s Permit
- ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
Preferred:
- 1 year of experience in healthcare, institutional, or residential food service
- Familiarity with sanitation practices and dietary accommodations
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs frequently and occasionally up to 50 lbs
- Standing and walking for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and pushing/pulling food carts
- Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, steam, noise, and cleaning chemicals
Working Conditions
- Work is performed within a licensed behavioral health treatment facility
- Must follow all confidentiality, safety, and infection control protocols
- Requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed
- May occasionally encounter emotionally challenging situations within a recovery environment
