What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Sales Coordinator - Weddings & Corporate Events position at Ascension Party Rentals?
Ascension Party Rentals is a 20 year event rental company in Gonzales serving the Baton Rouge metro: weddings, corporate events, festivals, and LSU game days. We're hiring a sales-minded coordinator to turn inquiries into booked events and grow with our expanding wedding and corporate business.
This is a sales seat with real advancement, not a call center job. You'll be the first contact for brides, planners, and plant managers, and the difference between a price-shopper hanging up and a booked event.
Realistic first-year total compensation: $44,000-$52,000 including monthly performance bonuses. The bonuses are real and earned from day one, not a someday promise.
What you'll do:
- Take sales calls and emails, qualify wedding and event inquiries, quote orders, and close bookings
- Book and run customer appointments: today that's consultations at our office and on-site walkthroughs; we're actively planning a full showroom build-out, and you'll help us launch and run it
- Work bridal shows and events with us: staff the booth, capture leads, and follow up until they book
- Follow up on open quotes until they book or die
- Build orders, schedule deliveries, and keep customer files clean in our rental software
- Share the day-to-day office basics with our current team: phones, confirmations, paperwork. Everyone here does the blocking and tackling, including this seat
Where this role goes: we are actively growing our wedding and corporate event division. The person who proves they can sell in this seat becomes our lead on that growth: venue relationships, planner partnerships, bridal shows, a new showroom, and bigger events. We'd rather promote you into that than hire over you.
What the bonuses look like:
Flat dollar amounts, paid monthly, on top of your hourly. You earn them for booked packages, appointments that turn into orders, and add-ons customers actually need. No commission percentages, no pressure tactics, no discount games. We win on service and follow-up.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 40 hours
- Every other Saturday morning, 7:30-11:30, with a half day Wednesday on those weeks
- Full-time, year-round, permanent
Requirements - please read before applying:
- Sales experience or event industry experience is required. Inside sales, retail sales with goals, hospitality or venue work, catering, event planning, rentals, or similar. Call center or general customer service experience alone is not the fit for this seat
- Organized. You'll juggle quotes, orders, deliveries, and follow-ups at once
- Comfortable learning software (we run the whole business on it, we train you)
- Professional on the phone and in person. Brides and plant managers both call here
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
Benefits:
- 401(k)
- Paid time off
Application Question(s):
- This seat requires sales or event industry experience. Describe yours: where, how long, and what you were responsible for selling or booking.
- This is full-time Monday-Friday plus every other Saturday morning 7:30-11:30, with a half day Wednesday on those weeks. Does that schedule work for you?
- Tell me about a specific time you turned an interested-but-hesitant customer into a sale or booking. What did you actually say or do?
- Have you worked in weddings, events, venues, catering, or rentals in any capacity?
