Director of Accounting

We are seeking a Director of Accounting to lead financial strategy and operational accounting across our building maintenance and facility services divisions. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for connecting financial performance with day-to-day operations, ensuring leadership has the insights needed to drive profitability, efficiency, and sustainable growth.
This role is ideal for a hands-on finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site service environment and can move fluidly between strategic planning, financial analysis, and operational execution.
What You’ll Do
Financial Leadership & Planning
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across multiple service lines
- Deliver timely, accurate financial reporting and variance analysis
- Translate financial results into clear operational insights for leadership decision-making
Operations Partnership
- Act as the financial liaison between accounting and field operations
- Partner with operational leaders to evaluate contract profitability, labor efficiency, and cost controls
- Support staffing and resource planning through data-driven analysis of labor and productivity
Commission & Incentive Oversight
- Manage commission and incentive compensation processes for operational and sales teams
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with company performance goals
- Collaborate with leadership to design and refine incentive structures
Cost & Performance Analysis
- Analyze labor, materials, vendor contracts, and service line profitability
- Build and maintain KPI dashboards focused on margin, productivity, and overhead efficiency
- Support pricing decisions, contract evaluations, and new business opportunities
Process Improvement
- Partner with the Controller and IT to improve financial systems and reporting workflows
- Enhance data accuracy, reporting efficiency, and operational transparency
- Recommend and implement process improvements that drive profitability
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (required)
- CPA or MBA strongly preferred
- 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or operations leadership
- Experience in service-based, facilities management, construction, or multi-site operations strongly preferred
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
- Advanced Excel and ERP system experience (job costing experience a plus)
- Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly across operational teams
- Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution
