Restorative Justice Coordinator

Workforce Development Program

Position Summary

The Restorative Justice Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting members transitioning back into the community by fostering accountability, healing, and personal growth. This position leads restorative practices designed to reduce barriers, repair harm, strengthen community connections, and promote successful engagement in workforce development programming. The Coordinator serves as a bridge between members, staff, community partners, and support networks to create a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed environment that aligns with program and grant obligations.

Key ResponsibilitiesRestorative Practice & Member Support

  • Facilitate restorative circles, mediation sessions, conflict resolution dialogues, and accountability processes.
  • Conduct intake assessments to identify member needs related to conflict, trauma, prior justice involvement, or community reintegration barriers.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and emotional regulation support to help members navigate personal challenges.
  • Develop individualized restorative plans to address harm, rebuild trust, and support positive behavioral change.
  • Ensure practices are culturally responsive and tailored to individuals with incarcerated or troubled backgrounds.

Program Coordination

  • Collaborate with Program Managers, Career Coaches, Instructors, and Support Service Providers to integrate restorative practices across all phases of the workforce development program.
  • Maintain documentation, case notes, and progress reports in alignment with internal procedures and grant requirements.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies that support member accountability while promoting a restorative and trauma-informed culture.
  • Lead restorative responses to incidents, behavioral concerns, or conflicts within the program cohort.

Training & Capacity Building

  • Provide training to staff, volunteers, and partners on restorative justice philosophy, trauma-informed practices, and conflict de-escalation techniques.
  • Create toolkits and resources to support a restorative culture within the organization.
  • Support new staff orientation with restorative justice guidelines.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Maintain strong relationships with justice-system partners, reentry organizations, mental health providers, and community service agencies.
  • Coordinate referrals for counseling, substance-use support, housing assistance, and other stabilizing services.
  • Represent the organization at community meetings, reentry events, and partner collaborations.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure all restorative justice activities align with program objectives, grant obligations, and ethical standards.
  • Track member progress and outcomes related to conflict resolution, behavioral improvement, and program engagement.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for leadership and funding partners as required.

QualificationsEducation & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Human Services, or related field (or equivalent lived experience and training).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience working with justice-involved individuals, reentry populations, or trauma-impacted communities.
  • Prior training or certification in restorative justice, mediation, or conflict resolution preferred.

  • Strong facilitation and active listening skills.
  • Ability to manage crises, de-escalate conflicts, and maintain emotional composure.
  • Trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and non-judgmental approach.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.
  • Experience working collaboratively with justice partners, community agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.

Work Environment

  • On-site, or community-based environment depending on program structure.
  • Restorative sessions may occur in classrooms, offices, partner facilities, or community settings.
  • Some evenings or weekends may be required based on cohort schedules or restorative needs.

This role ensures members receive the restorative support necessary to complete training, secure employment, and stabilize their re-entry journey. The Coordinator directly contributes to reduced recidivism, stronger community relationships, and successful long-term workforce outcomes.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
