Position Summary
The System Analyst is responsible for analyzing current manufacturing and business systems, identifying areas for improvement, and designing technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include gathering and documenting requirements, evaluating system performance, developing and implementing system modifications, and ensuring effective integration between IT systems and manufacturing processes. The role also involves supporting data management initiatives and collaborating with stakeholders to align technology solutions with business objectives.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Business and Systems Analysis
- Analyze existing manufacturing and business processes to identify system gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, define, and document moderately complex business and technical requirements.
- Translate business needs into clear functional specifications, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Assist in feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed IT solutions.
System Design and Implementation
- Design and configure system enhancements and process improvements with minimal supervision.
- Partner with developers and technical teams to ensure solutions are properly built, tested, and deployed.
- Support project management efforts by contributing to timelines, risk identification, and resource planning.
- Conduct system testing and user acceptance testing, and coordinate defect resolution with development teams.
System Integration and Support
- Support integration between core manufacturing systems and peripheral applications.
- Troubleshoot system issues, perform root cause analysis, and work with support teams to implement solutions.
- Maintain system documentation, including process flows, technical specs, and configuration guides.
- Provide second-level user support and help train users on new features or tools.
Data Management and Reporting
- Assist in maintaining data integrity across systems by collaborating with data owners and administrators.
- Design and develop moderately complex reports, queries, and dashboards to support decision-making.
- Monitor data workflows and recommend improvements to enhance data accessibility and reporting accuracy.
Compliance and Continuous Improvement
- Ensure system solutions comply with internal policies, industry regulations, and security standards.
- Participate in internal audits and support documentation for compliance reviews.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, offering insights on how technology can streamline manufacturing or administrative processes.
- Performs other duties and participates in Company initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications & Education Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in a System Analyst or Business Analyst role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Solid understanding of ERP systems, manufacturing workflows, and process automation.
- Proficiency with SQL and relational databases for querying and reporting.
- Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) and system integration concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Preferred:
- Exposure to reporting tools such as Power BI, Crystal Reports, or Tableau.
- Knowledge of compliance standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ITAR, SOX) relevant to manufacturing environments.
- Project coordination or junior project management experience is a plus.
