Arrowhead Talent Solutions is assisting a growing telecommunications company in Springfield NC with their search for a Project Superintendent - Civil Construction.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Project Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day execution of all civil construction and drilling operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on-time, on-budget, and to quality standards. This role manages field crews, coordinates equipment and materials, enforces safety protocols, and serves as the primary operational leader for active job sites. The Superintendent works closely with the Estimator to ensure smooth handoff from bid to build and reports directly to company ownership on project performance, safety, and profitability.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Operations Leadership
- Oversee all active civil construction and cell tower drilling projects from mobilization through closeout
- Manage drilling foremen, equipment operators, and field crews (direct employees and subcontractors)
- Conduct daily job site visits to monitor progress, safety compliance, and quality standards
- Coordinate equipment utilization, maintenance schedules, and logistics across multiple sites
- Ensure proper training and certification of drilling crews and heavy equipment operators
- Troubleshoot field issues in real-time including equipment failures, unforeseen conditions, and scope changes
Safety & Compliance
- Champion company safety culture across all job sites
- Conduct daily safety briefings and enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies
- Investigate incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Maintain all safety documentation, certifications, and training records
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies on inspections and compliance requirements
Project Controls & Financial Performance
- Track job costs daily against budget including labor hours, equipment time, materials, and subcontractors
- Identify cost overruns or schedule slippage early and implement corrective action
- Review and approve timecards, equipment logs, and material purchases
- Coordinate change order documentation with estimator and ownership
- Ensure accurate daily production reporting for billing and WIP tracking
Quality Control & Client Interface
- Ensure work meets contract specifications and quality standards
- Conduct regular inspections and document quality control checkpoints
- Serve as on-site point of contact for clients, general contractors, and inspectors
- Address client concerns promptly and maintain professional relationships
- Coordinate project closeout, punchlist completion, and final inspections
Team Leadership & Development

- Provide hands-on coaching and mentorship to foremen and crew leads
- Conduct performance reviews and address personnel issues in a timely and professional manner

Collaboration with Estimator
- Participate in pre-bid site walks and scope review meetings
- Provide field feedback on estimating assumptions including production rates, equipment needs, and risks
- Review project budgets and work plans before project kickoff
- Document lessons learned to improve future estimating accuracy
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- 10 years progressive experience in civil construction and/or foundation drilling operations
- 5 years in superintendent, foreman, or field leadership role managing crews
- Deep technical knowledge of drilling operations, concrete work, site preparation, and utility installation
- Experience with telecommunications infrastructure including cell towers, fiber, and utilities strongly preferred
- Proven ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously
- Strong understanding of job cost tracking, schedule management, and productivity metrics
- OSHA 30-hour certification (or willingness to obtain immediately)
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Proficient with mobile apps for time tracking, daily reporting, and photo documentation
Preferred:
- Experience working with major telecom carriers or tower companies
- Competent Persons certifications including excavation, confined space, and fall protection
- Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore, Buildertrend, or similar
- Forklift, crane, or heavy equipment operator certifications
- Experience with prevailing wage and public works projects
