The Account Manager is a key member of Arning Companies' Finance team, responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, maintaining financial accuracy, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback.
- Oversee workload distribution and ensure timely completion of accounting functions.
- Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with management teams across Operations, Procurement, and Project Management to support financial transparency and alignment.
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Manage daily accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll review, job costing, reconciliations, and general ledger management.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and variance reports.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes with accuracy and timeliness.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Assist with annual budget preparation and quarterly financial forecasting.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to leadership for operational decision-making.
- Monitor spending against budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Support financial modeling and long-range planning initiatives.
Process Improvement & Controls
- Strengthen internal controls, financial procedures, and documentation.
- Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Contribute to system enhancements related to accounting software and reporting tools.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5 years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
- Strong proficiency in accounting systems (Sage or similar ERP experience preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred
- Experience in construction or manufacturing (job costing background strongly preferred).
- Experience with Sage, Procore Financials, or related construction/project accounting systems.
