BASIC FUNCTION:
The Sr. Accounting Manager – USA, is responsible for overseeing the financial accounting, reporting, and treasury operations in Michigan and Arkansas. This role ensures the integrity of financial data, compliance with regulatory requirements, effective cash and risk management, taxes, and drives continuous improvement in financial processes. The position leads a team including AP/AR clerks and provides functional oversight to the plant controller in the the US.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare statutory and consolidated financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and internal accounting policies.
- Prepare proper annual tax documentation
- Oversee treasury operations including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and banking relationships.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely and accurate processing, including intercompany reconciliation.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings. Lead and collaborate to get all files prepared for annual tax returns calculations.
- Develop and implement internal controls and financial policies.
- Collaborate with plant controller to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes together with plant controller.
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team across North America.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Educational Experience: Bachelor's Degree
- Field of Study/Technical Certifications: Accounting, Finance
- Minimum # of Years of Experience: 10 years progressive experience in accounting and treasury, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role
- Required PC Skills: Word, Excel, Access, Microsoft Office Suite
- CMS/Epicor Experience a Plus
- Automotive Industry Experience a Plus
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Deep understanding of financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities.
- Knowledge of treasury operations, working capital and risk management.
- Experience with tax compliance, audit processes, and financial reporting standards.
- Strong command of financial systems and data visualization tools.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Experience in the automotive manufacturing or industrial sector preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills while managing teams or operations.
- Experience working with private equity firms is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Typical of an office environment. Majority of the job will be sitting, standing, and walking in a normal office environment. Use of dexterity of hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment (computer, printer, etc.) will be required; occasional lifting light objects 5-10 lbs. May walk plant floor as needed. Ability to wear PPE when needed throughout the plant.
