- Create comprehensive shop drawings for all structural steel components including beams, columns, braces, connection plates, trusses, and miscellaneous steel items
- Develop clear and accurate erection drawings that provide step-by-step guidance for assembly in our manufacturing facility and on-site installation
- Produce anchor bolt plans showing precise locations and installation methods for field crews
3D Modeling & Design Coordination
- Create detailed 3D models of structural steel frames using SolidWorks
- Perform clash detection to identify and resolve spatial conflicts with other building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) before fabrication begins
- Visualize component fit and assembly sequences to minimize costly field modifications
- Model connections, penetrations, and interface details accurately
Technical Documentation
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) with accurate material specifications, quantities, and part numbers
- Produce bolt lists, cut lists, and other fabrication data required by shop personnel
- Include exact dimensions, material specifications, welding symbols, bolt types/sizes, and hole patterns on all drawings
- Maintain organized project files and drawing revision control
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all drawings comply with relevant industry standards including AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) and AWS (American Welding Society)
- Verify compliance with local building codes and jurisdiction-specific requirements
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and buildability before release to fabrication
- Conduct self-checks to catch errors before they impact production schedules
