Position Overview
The Assistant Principal will serve as a key member of the school leadership team and will lead the development of a strong school culture, consistent discipline systems, restorative practices, Collaborative Problem Solving, and schoolwide routines. This leader will partner with students, families, staff, and district partners to create a safe, predictable, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where all students are ready to learn.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead schoolwide culture systems, including routines for arrival, dismissal, transitions, hallways, cafeteria, recess, bathrooms, assemblies, and common spaces.
• Implement fair, developmentally appropriate, and restorative discipline practices that promote reflection, repair, accountability, and successful re-entry into learning.
• Support schoolwide implementation of Collaborative Problem Solving, de-escalation, co-regulation, trauma-informed practices, and proactive student support planning.
• Coach teachers and paraprofessionals on classroom routines, behavior response, restorative conversations, neutral language, and consistent adult expectations.
• Use behavior, attendance, discipline, referral, and student support data to identify patterns, monitor progress, and strengthen schoolwide systems.
• Partner with the Wellness Team, counselors, special education staff, ESL staff, classroom teachers, and families to support students with significant dysregulation or unsafe behavior.
• Communicate proactively and respectfully with families regarding student behavior, safety, support plans, progress, and next steps.
• Model professionalism, emotional regulation, strong follow-through, reflective practice, and solution-oriented leadership.
