Crisis Paraprofessionals will participate in ongoing coaching and professional development focused on evidence-based de-escalation and behavior management practices.
Position Summary
The Crisis Paraprofessional provides direct behavioral, social-emotional, and crisis-intervention support to students who require intensive assistance throughout the school day. Working collaboratively with the Wellness Team, classroom teachers, and administrators, the Crisis Paraprofessional helps ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment while promoting student self-regulation, engagement, and successful participation in school.
Key Responsibilities
* Build positive, supportive relationships with students.
* Accompany and support students in general education classrooms and other school settings as needed.
* Respond to behavioral support requests from teachers and staff throughout the day.
* Implement behavior intervention plans, safety plans, and crisis management plans.
* Utilize de-escalation strategies and support students in developing self-regulation skills.
* Assist with crisis response, including physical management when necessary and in accordance with district-approved protocols.
* Collaborate with the Wellness Team to develop, implement, and monitor student support plans.
* Support student arrival and dismissal routines and participate in daily debriefs with the Wellness Team.
* Attend staff meetings and professional development as assigned.
* Maintain confidentiality and complete required documentation promptly.
