Project Engineer/Assistant Construction Manager – Hybrid WFH 2 days a week.
Location: Torrance, CA | Type: Full-Time, Exempt | Reports To: Sr. Project Manager/Director
Job Summary: For a Design Build GC. The Assistant Construction Manager supports the Construction Manager and project team on tenant improvement, retail, and multi-site rollout projects, keeping documentation, trackers, procurement, submittals, RFIs, punchlists, and closeout items organized and moving. This is a support role: it maintains visibility on open items and escalates issues, rather than independently leading the construction management process
.Key Responsibilitie
- sSupport RFQ issuance, bid tracking/leveling, and contractor comparison
- sHandle commitment documentation — POs, work orders, contract routin
- gSupport landlord coordination, approvals, and lease-driven compliance item
- sMaintain trackers for submittals, RFIs, long-lead items, procurement, and closeou
- tRun pre-construction meeting logistics, notes, and action-item follow-u
- pLog and route submittals/RFIs; monitor schedules and escalate risks or delay
- sSupport change request review, pay applications, and invoice processin
- gManage punchlist development, follow-up, and closeout documentation (as-builts, warranties, turnover files
- )Prepare status reports and serve as a support point of contact for contractors, landlords, consultants, and internal team
sQualification
- s2–4 years in construction coordination, administration, or commercial TI project suppor
- tAbility to read architectural drawings, specs, schedules, and construction document
- sStrong organization, follow-through, and written/verbal communicatio
- nProficiency in MS Office and project management platforms (Procore preferred
- )Bachelor's in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field preferre
- dRetail, restaurant, or multi-site rollout experience a plu
