Sr. Mechanical Superintendent Field Leadership — Mechanical / Plumbing / HVAC MEP
Position Summary
The Sr. Mechanical Superintendent leads field execution and quality across all mechanical scopes, directly overseeing plumbing, mechanical piping, and HVAC installations on assigned projects. This role owns the field side of the business, from crew deployment and manpower planning through prefabrication strategy and craft development, and serves as the primary link between the field and the office. The ideal candidate is a hands on mechanical leader who can run multiple crews and trade types at once, hold the line on code compliance and quality standards, and mentor the next generation of field leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Owns field execution and quality across all mechanical scopes. Directly oversees plumbing, mechanical piping, and HVAC installations across assigned projects, ensuring work is built to spec, code compliant, and meets MEP's quality standards from rough in through closeout.
- Drives productivity and manpower planning. Manages crew deployment across multiple scopes and trade types, monitors labor efficiency against budgeted hours, and communicates proactively with the PM and division manager on any cost or schedule variance.
- Champions prefabrication and technology adoption. Leverages VDC coordination, prefab opportunities, and field technology tools to improve installation efficiency and reduce waste across plumbing, piping, and HVAC work.
- Develops and mentors field leadership. Actively coaches foremen and journeymen across all mechanical trades, identifies high potential craft workers, and helps build the next generation of MEP field leaders.
- Serves as the field to office bridge. Partners closely with the Mechanical Division Manager and project management team to keep communication tight, surface field issues early, and ensure the office and field are always aligned.
Qualifications
- 5 years of progressive mechanical construction experience, including prior Superintendent or Foreman level field leadership across plumbing, mechanical piping, and HVAC scopes.
- Proven ability to run multiple crews and trade types simultaneously on active jobsites.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC codes and quality standards.
- Experience with VDC coordination, prefabrication planning, and field technology tools preferred.
- Track record of developing foremen and journeymen into future field leaders.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate field conditions into clear updates for project management and division leadership.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Salary : $160,000 - $225,000
