Responsibilities
Salary: $66,000-$105,000 DOE. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications. Job Summary
St. Joseph School is seeking a K-4 Music teacher to join a highly motivated, curious, and passionate staff of educators.
Responsibilities
- Teach a curriculum based on the NAfME standards
- Plan/execute a balanced music program and organize class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time
- Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the music curriculum to the needs of each student
- Utilize repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary, that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students
- Select appropriate music, books, and instructional aids/supplies as necessary
- Collaborate with the Pastoral Assistant for Music and Liturgy to prepare for the school's liturgical celebrations
- Prepare students to sing at school liturgies
- Collaborate with the directors and teachers in providing musical programs for school assemblies and seasonal programs
- Evaluate/report each student's musical growth, performance, and musical understanding
- Be able to fulfill other roles and responsibilities as assigned
- The successful candidate will:
- Have an enthusiastic commitment to the mission of St. Joseph School and the institution's core values.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred)
- Have experience teaching music to K-8 students
- Believe that all students can learn and achieve at high levels
- Desire to work in a teacher-driven, student-centered environment
- Demonstrate curiosity about the world and passion for engaging students in meaningful and authentic learning experiences
- Have a commitment to social justice
- Work well with colleagues
- Communicate effectively and often with families
- Hold a valid teaching certificate
- Preferably be a practicing Catholic
