Accounting Manager

Summary

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee and perform daily accounting operations within a dynamic company. In this vital role, you will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, support month-end close activities, and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the CFO, you will manage a small team and drive process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Perform month-end and year-end closing activities and support audit preparations to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage account reconciliations, including bank and intercompany accounts, to maintain accurate ledger balances.
• Coordinate the submission of sales and use tax filings across multiple states, ensuring timely compliance with tax regulations.
• Assist with financial reporting and cash flow management to support effective decision-making.
• Maintain fixed assets accounting and oversee lease tracking, reconciliation, and related activities.
• Collaborate with external auditors, tax agencies, and regulatory bodies to facilitate audits and reporting.
• Ensure organized financial records and strengthen internal controls to mitigate risks.
• Drive continuous improvements in internal accounting procedures and workflows.
• Supervise and support the accounting staff, delegating tasks and providing mentorship.
• Serve as payroll backup to assist the HR department when needed.
  
  

Requirements

• 2-5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience within a professional setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close procedures.
• Experience with sales and use tax compliance preferred, especially across multiple states.
• Experience with project, construction, or manufacturing accounting is a plus.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external partners.
• Self-starter with a positive attitude and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced MS Excel skills, with experience in MS Access.
