Summary: Our client is a nonprofit organization seeking a Senior Accountant to manage the full accounting function. This role reports to the Controller and owns the complete accounting cycle — from AP/AR and payroll through month-end close and financial reporting — in a compliance-driven, mission-focused environment. Ideal candidates bring deep nonprofit accounting experience, advanced-level Excel skills, and a track record of owning close processes with minimal supervision.

What You'll Own
- Manage the full accounting cycle including AP, AR, payroll, tax forms, investments, and financial close.
- Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts; review and approve journal entries prepared by staff.
- Drive the month-end close process including account reconciliation, margin analysis, and financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and ad hoc reports for leadership.
- Oversee weekly payment disbursements and coordinate approval of all banking activities.
- Monitor GAAP updates and regulatory changes to keep the organization current and compliant.
- Maintain the accounting department calendar and monthly close checklists.
Must-Haves
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Nonprofit (501(c)(3)) accounting experience — AP, AR, payroll, tax forms, and financial close.
- Demonstrated ownership of month-end close processes.
- Advanced-level Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.).
- Strong GAAP knowledge and compliance experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Nice to Have
- Sage Intacct or similar accounting system experience.
- Current CPA license.
- Experience with Bill.com or T&E/expense management platforms.
- Familiarity with Solver or similar financial planning/reporting tools.
