Payroll & Benefits Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll & Benefits Specialist to support payroll processing, employee benefits administration, and HR-related functions in a fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining employee records, assisting with benefits enrollment and administration, and supporting compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience handling confidential employee information.
Responsibilities
- Process weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll for employees accurately and on time
- Review and audit payroll data including timecards, deductions, bonuses, commissions, and garnishments
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Assist employees with payroll-related questions including pay discrepancies, deductions, tax forms, and direct deposit updates
- Coordinate benefits administration including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, and other employee benefit programs
- Manage new hire benefit enrollments, qualifying life event changes, and open enrollment activities
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding benefits questions and payroll inquiries
- Maintain employee records within HRIS/payroll systems and ensure data accuracy
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes related to payroll and benefits
- Prepare payroll and benefits reports for management, audits, and compliance purposes
- Support year-end processing including W-2 preparation and payroll reconciliations
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information
- Stay current on payroll laws, tax regulations, and benefits compliance requirements
Qualifications
- 2 years of payroll and/or benefits administration experience preferred
- Knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, and benefits administration
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, UKG, Workday, or similar HRIS platforms preferred
- Strong Microsoft Excel and data entry skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Preferred Skills
- Experience processing multi-state payroll
- Familiarity with 401(k) administration and payroll tax filings
- Understanding of HR compliance and employment regulations
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or related certification is a plus
