POSITION TITLE: Peer Recovery Specialist
REPORTS TO: Peer Recovery Specialist Supervisor FLSA: Exempt
FUNCTION: Furthering the CFS, Corp. mission to serve individuals experiencing substance use disorders and supporting their recovery.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate from an accredited high school or have high school equivalency
- National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) or Certified Alcohol and Drug Addictions Consultant (CADAC) Certification preferred.
- Must meet all requirements for pre-employment as required by the CFS, Corp., state regulations, and licensure requirements.
- Two or more years of experience working as a community support individual or with in-home case management preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Documented experience working with at-risk populations
- Demonstrated knowledge of and sensitivity to diverse cultures.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current valid driver’s license from state of residence with a satisfactory driving record as defined by CFS, Corp. vehicle policy and/or liability insurance carrier.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, sit, stand, and walk for periods. Must be able to lift from the floor to the waist up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
VISUAL AND COGNITIVE DEMANDS: Must have excellent communication skills. Must be able to generate written reports or summaries using a prescribed format. Must be able to give and receive verbal and written instructions. Must have fine vision, sustained vision, and peripheral vision. Must possess sufficient eye/hand coordination to operate office equipment including, but not limited to phone, computer, calculator, or copier, if applicable.
WORK LOCATION AND ENVIRONMENT: School, and office settings with varying degrees of background noise. Lighting and ventilation as found in a typical home, school, or office setting. The buildings, grounds, and vehicles are tobacco-free.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The successful applicant should be able to perform ALL the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements.
- Provide support to clients.
- Align with the client’s treatment and/or case plan.
- Skill builds with the client and other vested parties to work towards positive behavior change.
- Links clients with additional community resources and provides peer recovery support services.
- Works with clients to teach, reinforce, and motivate toward behavioral change.
- Works with the client in teaching, reinforcing, and structuring consistency to help foster positive behavioral change.
- Serves as a liaison between family, mental health professionals, and other individuals or providers supplying services for and to the client.
- Advocating for the client, which could include writing reports for and attending court proceedings, preparing for job interviews, filling out social service applications, and ensuring basic needs are met.
- Share responsibility for developing individual safety and case plans.
- Documents all work with clients, community resources, and partners
- Creates and submits clear documentation of all services provided to the client, including progress notes, termination reports, and/or updated service goals/plans, to promote supervisory review and feedback.
- Documents all work and submits notes within 24 hours and no later than 72 hours of service delivered or canceled appointment, and requests additional authorization promptly to avoid service disruptions.
