Apex Maintenance Group provides residential and property-maintenance services throughout Metro Detroit. We work with homeowners, landlords, and property-management companies to complete repairs, unit turns, punch lists, cleaning, and improvement projects.
Apex handles customer acquisition, walkthroughs, scope development, pricing, scheduling, and customer communication. Contractors receive clearly defined assignments through the Apex system and are paid a fixed amount for the approved work.
We are building a direct network of reliable maintenance professionals who can complete specific tasks professionally, communicate clearly, and follow a documented work-order process.
Position summary
We are seeking experienced multi-skilled property maintenance technicians for ongoing project-based work.
This role is best suited for someone who can independently complete several common residential maintenance tasks during one visit. You will not be expected to perform every trade. Applicants will be approved only for the task categories they are qualified to perform.
Typical assignments may include rental-property punch lists, minor repairs, fixture installation, door and hardware work, drywall repairs, caulking, trim work, shelving, blinds, and general unit-turn maintenance.
This is not a traditional hourly employee position. Qualified contractors receive fixed-payout work opportunities and may accept or decline each assignment.
Typical responsibilities
- Complete assigned residential and property-maintenance tasks
- Review the full work-order scope before accepting
- Confirm appointment availability through the Apex platform
- Arrive within the approved customer appointment window
- Check in and check out through the Apex system
- Upload required before, progress, and after photographs
- Complete task-specific checklists
- Document unexpected conditions before performing additional work
- Submit material receipts when required
- Keep the work area clean and remove assigned debris
- Communicate delays, material issues, and scope questions promptly
- Complete work according to Apex quality and documentation standards

Candidates may be approved for some or all of the following:
- Lockset and door-hardware replacement
- Interior-door adjustments and minor repairs
- Blind and curtain-rod installation
- Shelving and wall-mounted accessories

Contractors may not perform electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural, or other regulated work unless properly qualified and approved by Apex for that category.

Contractor requirements
- Documented residential maintenance or repair experience
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Smartphone with reliable internet access
- Own standard tools and equipment
- Ability to travel throughout the listed service area
- Ability to upload clear photographs and written updates
- Strong communication and punctuality
- Ability to follow written scopes and checklists
- Ability to work professionally in occupied and vacant properties
- Willingness to complete a paid test assignment
- General liability insurance or willingness to obtain it before activation
- W-9 and appropriate business information
- Applicable trade licenses when required
- Ability to pass identity, reference, and background screening
Important operating standards
Apex contractors must:
- Perform only approved tasks
- Follow the written scope
- Obtain approval before completing additional work
- Never independently change the customer’s price
- Never negotiate payment directly with the customer
- Never use an undisclosed subcontractor
- Never remove materials or property without authorization
- Submit required completion evidence
- Correct workmanship issues for which they are responsible
- Maintain professional conduct and appearance
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with property-management companies
- Rental unit-turn experience
- Punch-list and make-ready experience
- Drywall and paint-repair ability
- Door, trim, cabinet, or finish-carpentry experience
- Familiarity with Home Depot material sourcing
- Ability to complete several compatible tasks during one visit
- Previous experience using field-service software
- Existing general liability coverage
- Registered business entity
