Experienced Drywall Finisher & Repair Technician

Apex Maintenance Group is expanding its field team and is seeking an experienced Drywall Finisher & Repair Technician for residential, commercial, rental-turnover, and property-management projects throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties.

This is a trade-specific position. We are not looking for a general handyman who occasionally performs drywall work. We are looking for someone who understands drywall professionally and can consistently deliver clean, paint-ready results.

The right candidate should be comfortable working independently in occupied homes, rental properties, vacant units, and commercial spaces while representing Apex professionally.

Typical Work Includes

• Drywall patching and repairs
• Water-damaged drywall replacement
• Ceiling repairs
• Hanging and replacing drywall sections
• Taping and mudding
• Multiple-coat finishing
• Sanding and feathering
• Corner bead installation and repair
• Crack and seam repairs
• Skim coating
• Texture repair and matching
• Preparing drywall to a true paint-ready finish
• Minor demolition and damaged-area removal
• Rental turnover and punch-list drywall work

• Arrive when scheduled
• Take clear before, progress, and completion photos
• Request authorization before performing additional work
• Accurately document job completion

Apex Field System

All work is managed through the Apex Maintenance Group field-management platform.

Technicians will use the system to:

• Receive and review job assignments
• Confirm scheduling
• Check in at the property
• Review approved scopes
• Upload before-and-after photos
• Document job progress
• Submit change-order requests when needed
• Complete job notes and close out work orders

Use of the Apex system and compliance with company procedures is required.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of professional drywall experience
• Strong drywall finishing and repair skills
• Ability to achieve paint-ready finishes
• Reliable transportation
• Valid driver's license
• Smartphone
• Basic professional drywall tools
• Ability to travel throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties
• Professional communication skills
• Dependable attendance
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to provide examples or photos of previous drywall work

Preferred Experience

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

• Rental turnovers
• Property-management work orders
• Commercial drywall repairs
• Water-damage restoration
• Ceiling repairs
• Texture matching
• Skim coating
• Larger drywall replacement projects

Compensation and Work Availability

Pay ranges from $22–$32 per hour, depending on verified experience, workmanship, efficiency, and ability to independently complete assigned work.
