The Opportunity

You will lead the engineering organization responsible for building a sophisticated customer facing AI agent system. This platform enables real time, context aware conversations that help businesses support users, drive conversion, and build long term relationships. The system operates at global scale and combines large language models, machine learning, and modern full stack engineering.

The platform is still early in its evolution, with significant room to influence architecture, extensibility, and long term technical direction. This role offers the chance to define what excellent conversational AI looks like in a production environment where reliability, safety, and customer outcomes truly matter.

Your Role

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will own the mission, strategy, and delivery of a critical AI platform. You will guide multiple engineering teams, including full stack and AI focused engineers, while remaining close to the technical work. Although this is a leadership role, strong hands on engineering judgment is essential, as you will regularly engage in architectural discussions and complex technical tradeoffs.

You will work closely with leaders across product, data science, design, and go to market teams to translate customer needs into a clear and executable technical roadmap. Your focus will be on building a highly reliable, extensible platform that can evolve alongside rapid advances in the AI ecosystem.

What You Will Do

You will lead and grow teams responsible for delivering core conversational AI capabilities, sometimes directly owning critical workstreams yourself. You will drive planning and execution across complex initiatives, aligning dependencies, defining success metrics, and ensuring outcomes meet business and customer goals.

You will play a hands on role in hiring, interviewing, and leveling engineers, while also developing clear growth plans and performance goals for your reports. You will mentor leaders and individual contributors, helping them grow both technically and professionally.

You will set and execute technical strategy for AI driven products, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and user friendly. You will advise on modeling approaches, system design, experimentation, and implementation choices, particularly where machine learning and large language models are involved.

You will partner with stakeholders to understand evolving needs, manage expectations, remove blockers, and turn complex requirements into valuable platform capabilities. You will also contribute to broader engineering improvements, including process design, communication practices, and development workflows.

Staying current with emerging trends in artificial intelligence is a key part of the role. You will actively evaluate new tools, techniques, and frameworks, identifying opportunities to responsibly incorporate them into the platform.

What You Bring

You have a strong track record building and leading teams that deliver AI powered product features in production environments. Your background includes full stack engineering and experience scaling complex systems that serve large user bases.

You bring seven to ten years of experience managing multiple engineering teams, including senior engineers and remote contributors. You are comfortable leading multi quarter initiatives that span more than one team and involve significant cross functional coordination.

You communicate exceptionally well, translating product and business goals into clear technical direction that teams can execute against. You are motivated by growing people and organizations, developing existing talent while attracting new engineers to expand capabilities.

You enjoy staying close to the code and the product, using your technical depth to mentor engineers and guide sound architectural decisions. You have a deep understanding of scalable system design and are comfortable conducting performance reviews and coaching engineers at all stages of their careers.

Additional Experience That Stands Out

Experience as a founder or operator of your own venture is highly valued, as it often brings a strong sense of ownership, pragmatism, and customer focus. A background working on conversational systems, agentic workflows, or AI driven platforms is also a strong plus.
