What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Literacy Fellow VISTA (02/09/26) position at AmeriCorps?
Catalyst Public Schools is a Kindergarten through 12th grade public school serving the greater Bremerton region. Catalyst is committed to cultivating an innovative, student-centered learning environment that supports academic, social, and emotional growth. As part of a broader collaboration with Great Peninsula Conservancy, the Environmental Literacy VISTA will strengthen the school’s internal capacity to integrate environmental literacy and sustainability education. Rather than engaging directly with students, educators, or community partners, the VISTA will focus on developing the internal systems, tools, and resources that enable staff to deliver high-quality environmental learning experiences. Through this capacity-building work, the VISTA will help establish long-term structures that strengthen environmental education across the school community.
Member Duties : The Environmental Literacy Fellow VISTA will strengthen internal capacity for Catalyst Public Schools’ environmental education and the Land Labs program by developing systems, tools, and resources that support staff-led curriculum, outreach, and partnerships. The VISTA will focus on building organizational infrastructure rather than teaching, public outreach, student engagement, or program delivery. The VISTA will develop curriculum templates and planning tools for staff; create workflow guides and documentation to support program planning; build resource libraries, communication tools, and procedural guides to strengthen staff capacity; map internal workflows including staff roles and processes; and develop data tracking and evaluation systems to support long-term planning. All instructional, student-facing, outreach, and partnership activities remain staff responsibilities.
