Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical Surgical/Neuro Unit position in Michigan, with NIHSS certification and every-other-weekend availability required.
Details
- 40-bed Medical Surgical/Neuro Unit in a hospital setting
- Specializes in neurological conditions including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other inflammatory disorders of the brain and spinal cord
- Large spinal surgery population including post-op neuro-surgery, ortho-surgery, laminectomy, and spinal fusion patients
- Unit includes six step-down/telemetry beds, six bariatric beds, and a four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit for seizure patients (ages 5 and up)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
- May be asked to float to other Med/Surg units, ICU units, and ED waiting rooms
- Epic (EMR) and Pyxis utilized
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA) required
- NIHSS certification required, or willingness to complete prior to start
- 1–2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred
Additional Information
- No holiday time-off requests; dates may be discussed with the manager based on unit needs
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a different rate
