Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Critical Access, Level IV Trauma facility in Kodiak, AK, with charge experience required and facility-provided housing and vehicle included.
Details
- Work setting is an acute care medical center that also includes long-term care and outpatient services, designated as a Level IV Trauma Center and Critical Access Hospital with 46 acute care beds and 22 LTC beds
- Emergency Department (ER) unit
- Schedule is variable 3x12-hour shifts, with both day (7:00–19:00) and night (19:00–7:00) options
- Weekend availability is required
- Floating within the hospital or to affiliate facilities within the state is required; refusal to float may result in termination of assignment
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting system is Epic; experience is required
- Free parking is available on-site
Requirements
- Active Alaska (AK) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of ER nursing experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
- TNCC is preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Required skills: respiratory care, care of ventilated patients, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, cardiac monitoring and emergency response, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV therapy, and phlebotomy
- Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
- 2 supervisory references covering a cumulative 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting are required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Valid driver's license and proof of personal vehicle insurance (including rental car coverage) required to operate the facility-provided vehicle
- Hepatitis B vaccination required; titers and declinations are not accepted
Additional Information
- The facility provides housing (typically a 1-bedroom apartment) and a vehicle for use during the assignment; travelers who accept facility-provided housing or vehicle are not eligible for housing or rental car stipends
- Pets are not allowed in facility-provided housing; additional family members in the housing unit must be approved by the facility
- The facility-provided vehicle is for local use only and may not be taken off-road or beyond a 30-mile radius from the facility; only the traveler is authorized to operate it
- Traveler must work 2 out of 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day
- Former permanent staff must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work a maximum of 1 calendar year at this facility before requiring a minimum 6-month break prior to returning
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- RTO requests should be minimal and submitted at time of consideration
- Scrub color: any color or business casual attire is acceptable
