Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical travel position at a short-term acute care hospital in Indiana, with night shifts and an every-other-weekend requirement.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting
- Medical-Surgical unit serving an adult and geriatric patient population
- Common patient conditions include COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CVA, hypoxia, electrolyte imbalances, hypertension, small bowel obstruction, altered mental status, and renal failure
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (17:00–05:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Charting in Cerner (experience required)
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility is required
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand — pending licenses not accepted
- Graduation from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE required
- Current certifications required: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — AHA and RQI formats accepted
- Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred

- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
- Scrub colors required: red top and black pants

- Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
- Note: Indiana-licensed RNs are not permitted to work Med/Surg positions at IU Health facilities under current facility policy
