American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU Float position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring Epic proficiency and comfort floating across all PCU and MS units.

• Float position covering all PCU and MS units within an acute care teaching hospital
• Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatric), Magnet-designated facility affiliated with a medical school
• PCU patient ratio averages 5:1; MS patient ratio averages 6:1, with potential flex up to 7:1
• Night shift schedule: 3x12s, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, with potential to float 2–3 times per shift
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday shift required per 13-week contract
• Epic EMR experience required

• Active Virginia state RN license or Compact RN license required; pending licensure accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1–2 years of PCU, stepdown, or telemetry (DOU/IMC) nursing experience required
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Proficiency in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Strong cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation, titrating cardiac drips, and participation in Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience managing PCA and heparin protocols, administering IV insulin, and caring for patients with endocrine/metabolic conditions
• Cardiovascular experience including pre/post cardiac cath care
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Copy of Driver's License and Social Security Card required for consideration

• Candidate must be comfortable working all PCU and MS units throughout the assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
