Description
American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a Medical-Surgical unit at an acute care teaching hospital in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY LPN license and Epic EMR experience.
Details
- 528-bed acute care Magnet-recognized teaching hospital in Rochester, NY, affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park
- Medical-Surgical unit serving patients with COPD exacerbation, infections, failure to thrive, and social issues
- Day/night rotating 12-hour shifts: 0700–1900 and 1900–0700
- Every other weekend required
- Patient ratio of 1:5–6 on days
- Epic EMR experience required
- Floating within skillset may be required
- Every other holiday coverage required, as needed
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active New York single-state LPN license required at time of assignment start (NY is not a Compact state; license required if applicable)
- Minimum 1 year of LPN experience
- Acute care experience within the last 2 years
- Current BLS certification required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in vital signs, pain assessment, intake/output monitoring, isolation precautions, physical restraints, specimen labeling, and oxygen administration via nasal cannula
- Skilled in medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, ear and eye drops), IV therapy with pumps, and blood glucose monitoring
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG
- Ability to perform Foley catheter insertion (male/female), wound care basics (simple dressings, JP/Hemovac drains), and feeding tube management
- Ability to take own patient assignment with RN support
- 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
Additional Information
- LPN works independently with own patient assignment under RN support in a collaborative MS/Tele care setting
- Responsibilities include communication of patient status changes to RN/MD, bathing and mouth care, clean catch urine collection, and basic wound care
