American Traveler is hiring a Sonographer with 2 years of experience in adult echocardiography for an acute care hospital echocardiography unit in Wheeling, WV.
Details- Acute care hospital setting in an echocardiography unit
- Covers both inpatient and outpatient studies
- Common studies include echocardiograms, TEEs, and stress echos
- Philips EPIQ ultrasound equipment used
- Charting in Allscripts (Sunrise)
- Average of 35–50 studies per day depending on staffing
- Shifts run 8:00 AM–4:30 PM or 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, with rotating on-call nights, weekends, and holidays from 5:30 PM–7:00 AM
- Schedule is either 4x10 or 5x8 hour day shifts, Monday through Friday
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Sonographer, with at least 1 year of active scanning within the last 2 years
- Current BLS (AHA) certification required
- RDCS-AE (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer – Adult Echo) via ARDMS required
- RCS or equivalent ARDMS credential also accepted
- License required if applicable
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Orientation consists of a hospital orientation on Monday followed by unit-specific orientation Tuesday through Friday
- No specific scrub color required; neat and professional appearance expected
- Vascular surgeon and on-call cardiologist provide reads
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may not work within the WVU Medicine system for longer than one cumulative year before a 2-year break is required
- All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
- Two references are required for consideration: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference
- A skills checklist completed within the past year is required for consideration
