Tub Runner – Scales / Quality

Department: Manufacturing – In-Process Quality / Material Flow
Location: Martinsburg, West Virginia | Onsite
Reports To: Quality Lead, Production Supervisor, or designated Team Lead
Employment Status: Full-Time | Hourly | Non-Exempt= $16.00

POSITION SUMMARY

The Tub Runner – Scales / Quality is responsible for the safe, accurate, and traceable movement of tubs and other bathware products through the scale-based quality checkpoint.

This position ensures the correct product is identified, safely positioned on the scale, accurately weighed, properly documented, and routed to the appropriate next operation. The Tub Runner plays an important role in supporting Quality and Production by identifying out-of-range or questionable products and ensuring they are properly contained for authorized review.

The Tub Runner is expected to maintain a strong focus on Safety, Quality, Accuracy, Productivity, and Traceability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality & Scale Operations

· Review the production schedule, models, scale-check requirements, current weight ranges, and routing priorities before beginning work.

· Verify the product model, color, mold/line identification, traveler, label, or scanner information before moving or weighing a unit.

· Confirm the scale is functioning properly and is at the required zero/tare condition before weighing.

· Safely position and stabilize the product or approved carrier on the scale.

· Allow the scale reading to stabilize before recording the weight.

· Accurately record, scan, or communicate the weight using the required unit of measure and product identification.

· Compare weight results with approved model specifications when assigned to do so.

· Never guess, alter, or falsify a quality or weight result.

· Route acceptable products to the designated next operation.

· Place out-of-range, unidentified, unstable, or questionable products in the designated hold area.

· Immediately notify Quality or Production leadership of abnormal readings, recurring trends, damaged equipment, or identification discrepancies.

Material Handling

· Safely move tubs and bathware products using approved carts, dollies, racks, conveyors, lift assists, suction devices, fixtures, or team-handling methods.

· Inspect carts, racks, lift assists, travel paths, and surrounding areas before moving products.

· Protect finished products from scratches, dents, impacts, or other handling damage.

· Maintain safe clearance around people, equipment, doors, scales, and production areas.

· Never exceed the capacity of scales, carts, lift equipment, or other material-handling devices.

· Maintain proper separation of pass, hold, reweigh, and dispositioned products.

Documentation & Traceability

· Accurately document product weights and quality information.

· Ensure each recorded weight is associated with the correct model, unit, line/mold, time, and quality status as required.

· Record movement counts, reweighs, holds, downtime, scale checks, and other assigned information.

· Maintain accurate labels, travelers, scans, and quality records.

· Provide a clear and accurate shift handoff.

· Report missing or incorrect documentation immediately.

Housekeeping & Equipment Care

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe scale area.

· Protect scales, controls, load cells, carts, and fixtures from impact, overload, debris, resin, water, and unauthorized adjustments.

· Follow approved cleaning and housekeeping procedures.

· Report damaged equipment, scale problems, spills, blocked walkways, or unsafe conditions immediately.

· Do not perform maintenance, calibration, or repairs unless specifically trained and authorized.

QUALITY EXPECTATIONS

The employee is expected to:

· Maintain accurate unit-to-weight traceability.

· Follow approved weighing procedures consistently.

· Verify proper scale zero/tare and stable readings.

· Maintain correct units of measure.

· Prevent pass/hold product mix-ups.

· Ensure questionable product is properly contained.

· Prevent unauthorized release of nonconforming product.

· Protect finished products and equipment from preventable handling damage.

· Promptly communicate quality concerns and recurring trends.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety is a fundamental responsibility of this position.

Employees are expected to:

· Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

· Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

· Follow pedestrian and material-handling traffic requirements.

· Use only equipment for which they have received appropriate training.

· Follow approved lifting and material-handling procedures.

· Report unsafe conditions, near misses, equipment damage, spills, chemical exposure, or other hazards immediately.

· Never bypass safety guards, controls, or established procedures to maintain production.

· Stop and escalate work when an unsafe or nonconforming condition is identified.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to perform the physical functions required in a manufacturing environment, including:

· Standing and walking for extended periods.

· Frequent pushing, pulling, steering, braking, and positioning of carts or products.

· Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, and working around products and scale platforms.

· Handling labels, tools, carriers, and product edges.

· Reading product identifiers, scale displays, labels, and quality information.

· Maintaining attention and accuracy while performing repetitive material-flow activities.

· Moving products using approved mechanical assistance or team-handling procedures.

Frequent handling of up to 25 pounds and occasional handling of up to 50 pounds. Full units must be moved using approved team or mechanical assistance as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is performed in an indoor manufacturing environment and may involve:

· Moving conveyors and production equipment

· Molds and carts

· Material-handling traffic

· Lift devices and powered equipment

· Heat and humidity during summer months

· Cold temperatures during winter months

· Fiberglass strands or dust

· Resin or coating odors

· Trimming dust

· Noise

· Wet or tacky materials

· Sharp cured edges

· Approved housekeeping chemicals

Employees must follow all ventilation, traffic-control, housekeeping, equipment, and PPE requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required

· Ability to follow standardized work instructions and safety procedures.

· Ability to accurately read and record weights, labels, product identifiers, and units of measure.

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

· Ability to identify and communicate quality abnormalities.

· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

· Dependable attendance and punctuality.

· Ability to work the assigned shift, overtime, and schedule changes as required by production needs.

· Ability to recognize unsafe loads, damaged equipment, scale issues, and out-of-range conditions and appropriately stop and escalate.

Preferred

· High school diploma or GED.

· Previous manufacturing experience.

· Quality inspection or quality-support experience.

· Material-handling or warehouse experience.

· Production-flow experience.

· Basic math, scanner, and data-entry skills.
