CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Senior Financial Analyst

Commercial Finance & Sales Analytics

Irving, Texas | On-site

The mandate: Partner with Retail Sales to improve forecasting, margin visibility, and commercial decisions while rebuilding the reporting foundation for scale.

1. Company Overview

American Bath Group (ABG) is a leading North American bathware manufacturer serving residential repair and remodel, new construction, and commercial markets. Through a broad portfolio of trusted brands and more than 50 facilities, ABG serves customers across retail, wholesale, commercial, and showroom channels.

2. The Opportunity

ABG is building a dedicated commercial finance partnership for its Retail Sales organization. As Senior Financial Analyst, you will combine FP&A, sales forecasting, margin and profitability analysis, and business intelligence to help leaders make better customer, product, pricing, and growth decisions.

This is not a back-office reporting role. You will work directly with commercial leaders, take ownership of recurring sales reporting, improve fragmented processes, and turn transaction-level data into clear recommendations. You will deliver immediate value through advanced Excel and help move validated reporting into scalable Power BI solutions.

3. Success in Year One

By the end of the first year, Retail Sales leadership should have a trusted finance partner and a controlled, decision-ready reporting environment. Success will be visible when:

  • Recurring retail sales reporting has clear ownership, consistent definitions, quality controls, and a reliable cadence.
  • Sales forecasts and projections are timely, explainable, and actively used in planning and commercial decisions.
  • Margin and profitability are understood at the customer, product, transaction, channel, and segment levels required for action.
  • Large-box and secondary retail performance is visible, consistent, and decision-ready.
  • New divisions or datasets can be added through common definitions and repeatable structures.
  • Validated reporting logic is prepared for—or beginning to transition into—Power BI.

4. The Mandate

You will build and operate the retail commercial finance capability at the same time—maintaining essential reporting while improving the processes, controls, and analytics behind it.

  • Partner directly with Retail Sales leaders on pricing, customer, product, channel, and growth decisions.
  • Own sales forecasting, projections, planning inputs, scenarios, and performance-to-plan analysis.
  • Evaluate revenue and gross margin drivers, including price, volume, mix, cost, rebates, and freight.
  • Build customer-, product-, transaction-, channel-, and segment-level profitability views.
  • Own the design, production, accuracy, cadence, and continuous improvement of retail reporting.
  • Rebuild fragmented reports by clarifying definitions, controls, documentation, and accountability.
  • Use advanced Excel for immediate analysis and translate validated finance logic into practical Power BI reporting.
  • Present clear insights and constructively challenge assumptions with fact-based recommendations.
  • Integrate new divisions and datasets into repeatable reporting structures and shared governance.

5. Year One Critical Outcomes

Timing

What success looks like

First 30–60 days

Map the current retail reporting ecosystem, data sources, owners, cadence, gaps, and stakeholder needs across large-box and secondary retail channels.

First 90 days

Assume dependable ownership of the priority retail sales, forecast, and margin reports; establish a reporting calendar, quality checks, and clear accountability.

By 6 months

Deliver a more complete reporting foundation and recurring forecasts and transaction-level profitability views that Retail Sales leadership uses for planning and commercial decisions.

By 9 months

Integrate agreed new divisions or datasets through common definitions and repeatable logic, without creating isolated parallel processes.

By 12 months

Establish a scalable retail finance reporting environment with governed metrics, reusable logic, and an agreed Power BI roadmap or initial deployed dashboards.

6. Why This Role Is Hard

You will inherit work already in motion rather than a clean-sheet analytics environment. Reporting ownership is distributed, definitions need to be aligned, and Power BI capability is still developing. The challenge is to deliver reliable insight now while building the controls, reusable logic, and stakeholder trust required to scale.

7. Leadership Profile

  • Builder–Operator: Repair an incomplete reporting system while meeting recurring deadlines.
  • Embedded Commercial Partner: Work closely with Sales and frame analysis around decisions, not outputs.
  • Financial Translator: Turn detailed data into clear implications for customers, products, margin, and forecasts.
  • Structured Owner: Create definitions, controls, cadence, documentation, and accountability.
  • Practical Technologist: Use Excel and Power BI to solve finance and business problems; the tool never replaces the question.
  • Constructive Challenger: Test assumptions, identify gaps, make recommendations, and communicate clearly.

8. Experience Requirements

The strongest candidates will bring direct evidence of the following qualifications:

  • Commercial finance / FP&A partnership: Direct support of a retail, wholesale, sales, revenue, or comparable organization with evidence of decision influence.
  • Reporting ownership and rebuild: Experience taking fragmented reporting to clearer ownership, definitions, controls, cadence, documentation, and adoption.
  • Transaction-level profitability: Customer, product, transaction, channel, or segment analysis that informed commercial action.
  • Forecasting and planning: Ownership of forward-looking sales forecasts, assumptions, scenarios, performance review, and stakeholder use.
  • Advanced Excel: Strong financial modeling, data analysis, reconciliation, reporting, and quality-control capability.
  • Power BI and business intelligence: Practical ability to translate validated business requirements and finance logic into decision-useful dashboards.
  • Communication: Ability to explain complex financial analysis in clear commercial language and constructively challenge assumptions.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, analytics, or a related field—or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred experience includes manufacturing, distribution, building products, consumer durables, wholesale, large-box retail, or another complex customer and channel environment. Strong mandate-relevant experience is more important than a specific industry background.

This is an on-site role in Irving, Texas. American Bath Group is unable to provide employment visa sponsorship now or in the future for this position.

9. Why the Right Candidate Will Be Excited

This role offers real authorship. You will work with senior commercial stakeholders, decide what information truly matters, strengthen the operating rhythm, and build a visible reporting capability that can grow with the business.

10. Why This Role Matters

Retail decisions improve when leaders can trust the forecast, understand the economics beneath the topline, and act on clear customer and product insight. By connecting those needs, the Senior Financial Analyst will help ABG make better decisions today while building a stronger platform for future growth.
