Responsibilities
- Safely operate various types of forklifts including stand-up, sit-down, and pallet jacks to load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse
- Manage inventory movement by loading and unloading shipments while adhering to OSHA safety standards and warehouse procedures
- Assist with warehouse management system (WMS) updates to track inventory levels, locations, and shipment statuses
- Support shipping & receiving operations by verifying shipments against documentation and ensuring proper storage of materials
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize storage solutions and improve overall warehouse distribution processes
- Review production schedule and plan work process to ensure that job materials and packaging materials are available at the work stations when required - the objective is to ensure no loss of time and efficiency at work stations. Ensure clear understanding of materials required - different version, number of signatures, packaging and labeling requirements. Follow standard operating procedures.
- Ensure that product is staged and waiting to be used in safe and appropriate areas, e.g. not in walkways or in front of exit doors; stored at safe heights; etc. according to plant wide 5S system.
- Remove product from the machine(s) or work stations and take them to either the next location in the finishing process or the shipping department. Ensure leftover material is properly marked before moving to the shipping department. Return excess supplies to the storage area as necessary.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move material or reorganize storage.
- Participate in routing, counting and inspecting items while loading and unloading trucks; delivers and returns items.
- Fills orders and issues materials and supplies movements per requests; documents transactions appropriately; prepares requisitions and computes costs; keeps records of inventory.
- Assists in housekeeping all areas and is responsible for emptying waste barrels on the plant floor. Keeps work stations well stocked with pens, pads, tape, and marker pens, etc.
- When traveling across the plant floor delivering materials, optimize efficiency on ‘return’ trips (e.g. taking excel supplies, removing full waste barrels, etc.)
- Follow all required safety procedures and perform in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employee.
Requirements
- Proven experience
- Strong knowledge of SAP and inventory control procedures
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment repairs and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations related to materials handling
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the shift
- Basic math skills for inventory counts, measurements, and documentation accuracy
- Previous experience in shipping & receiving is highly desirable
- Valid forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire is preferred
- High School Diploma
- Valid Drivers License
