As import volumes continue to grow within the U.S. brokerage function, the Charlotte team is expanding and looking to add an experienced customs professional to support entry processing and regulatory compliance.
About the Position
This Customs Compliance & Import Entry Specialist role is well suited for an experienced import professional who values accuracy, accountability, and regulatory precision. The position is responsible for handling U.S. import entries end-to-end, ensuring correct classification, documentation integrity, and timely clearance through U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
You’ll operate with a high degree of ownership in your day-to-day work, supported by a knowledgeable brokerage team, established workflows, and a compliance-first operating environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and file compliant air and ocean import entries in accordance with CBP regulations
- Review commercial invoices, packing lists, and shipping documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Perform HTSUS classification and ensure proper submission through ACE systems
- Stay current on regulatory updates and apply changes to entry procedures as required
- Communicate with clients, carriers, and government agencies to resolve clearance issues or delays
- Maintain complete, audit-ready records within the brokerage system
- Collaborate with internal operations teams to support timely cargo release and final delivery
- Identify potential compliance risks and documentation discrepancies before submission
Candidate Requirements
- 3 years of hands-on experience processing U.S. import entries within a customs brokerage or freight forwarding environment
- Strong working knowledge of HTSUS, CBP regulations, and ACE
- Ability to manage multiple entries and deadlines independently
- High level of attention to detail with strong organizational discipline
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) designation is advantageous but not required
